Ethyldiglyme

Diethyleneglycoldiethylether (EthylDiglyme, Diethylenglycol EE)

Ethyl diglyme, also called diethylene glycol diethyl ether, diethyl carbitol or diethyl diglycol, is a colorless liquid with a characteristic odor. EthylDiglyme is a chemical compound from the group of glycol ethers, which can be obtained by a reaction of ethylene glycol monoethyl ether with diethyl sulfate. The less volatile, oily, difficult to ignite liquid is miscible with water and soluble in ethanol.
Ethyl diglyme (diethylene glycol diethyl ether) is used as a high boiling point solvent. The solvent is particularly suitable and frequently used for emission applications such as digital ink formulations. Ethyl diglyme offers high solubility and dispersibility for dyes and pigments and at the same time prevents clogging of the print heads.

The molar mass of the liquid solvent is 162.23 g / mol, the density 0.91 g / cm and the vapor pressure 0.79 mbar (20 ° C).
The melting point is at -44 ° C, the boiling point at 189 ° C and the flash point at 71 ° C.
The vapors of ethyl diglyme can form an explosive mixture when heated with air.
